If you live in South Florida, you have surely heard about Juliette Johnson. She is a veteran in the restaurant scene, and in the recent years has transformed the BBQ scene with her one-of-a-kind pop-up stand.
Lickie Stickie BBQ at the Sunday Farmers Market. Feb 14, 2016. |
Known to her family, friends, and fans as a relentless pit master, Juliette is known to be seen with her Lickie Stickie BBQ pop-up stand set up every Saturday and Sunday – a pursuit that has happily kept her waking before sunrise on days that are ordinarily used for resting. In her own words, neither rain nor sun could stop her from pursuing her passion, as she knows that her customers (who are happy to be known as her fans) too wait for her to show up.
The stand, which primarily offers Caribbean and Southern-style barbecue, gets set up at Volunteer Park in Plantation every Saturday, and at the Veterans’ Park in Tamarac every Sunday. While her pop-up remains open from 9:30am to 3:30pm, be warned – if you are among the many looking for her uber-popular brisket – they get sold out in the first few hours. And while the barbecue is the highlight of her menu, Lickie Stickie also offers other common American delicacies such as fish, ribs, lamb and chicken, along with tasty sides such as baked beans, collard greens, mac and cheese, and of course, grits.
It is probably no surprise that the pop-up has over 300 to 600 visits each day it is open.
As the stand is all set to move to a brand-new brick-and-mortar location, Juliette hopes that her fans too will follow her there.
Juliette’s main focus are the Caribbean and Southern cuisine, a love she developed from her travels in the US and Caribbean’s. She also happens to have an interesting collection of sauces, most of which are a family secret recipe.
At Leads Online Marketing, we have been long-time fans of Lickie Stickies BBQ, having got our first taste back when it used to be a tiny pop-up operating only on Friday and Saturday nights in the Tubby's Liquors & Drive-Thru parking lot. It was instant love! The operation moved and expanded to the Tamarac Farmers Market every Saturday, and we were happy to be there when we could be. And the best thing is – even though it is now a massive BBQ pop-up AND restaurant, the good old taste is still the same. Enjoy!
